Robinsons / Dubai
This March, Robinsons made its Middle East debut with a spectacular new 200,000 square foot site in Dubai’s Festival City Mall, featuring 600 local, regional and international brands. HMKM’s vision draws inspiration from Robinsons’ Singaporean roots (particularly from that city’s blend of tropical greenery and contemporary architecture) to produce a scheme founded on the notion of a future landscape - a dynamic that runs through every aspect of the design, blending contemporary forms, digital statements, warm materials and lush planting.
On ground level, menswear space is anchored by slatted oak, herringbone leather, warm lacquers and dark metal, whilst urbanwear is differentiated with polished concrete, terrazzo and perforated metal. The remainder of the floor is devoted to beauty, with shimmering metals, rich marbles, soft Deco chandeliers and plush seating.
The first floor is dedicated to womenswear and accessories, with dramatic rotundas centred on swooping, tree-like frames. Highlights include a sumptuous shoe department, a lingerie space screened by layered rose gold frames and softened with washed-timber fixtures and subtle grey hues. Eveningwear ramps up the glamour factor, meanwhile, with gold, bronze and champagne tones.
On second floor, the kid’s wear department is awash with vibrant colours, interactive play zones and playful house-style frames, whilst pale neutrals and honeycomb-tiled stone dominate the adjacent homewares space. Running through the central atrium, a series of vertical garden columns - created by world-renowned garden designer Patrick Blanc - span the store’s three levels, bringing HMKM’s future landscape concept full circle.
Built round a series of spectacular hero experiences and beautifully considered service spaces, Robinsons is a unique addition to Dubai’s retail scene. Its design creates a distinctive new identity for the brand within the Middle East, celebrating its rich Singaporean heritage whilst looking firmly ahead to the future.
